This unit explores the bridge between theoretical social science and the practical skills needed to navigate a changing world. It emphasizes that Social Studies is not just about memorizing facts about history or geography, but about developing a "social perspective" that helps an individual function as a responsible citizen. Lifelong Learning is presented as a continuous process where an individual constantly updates their knowledge, skills, and values to adapt to new social, economic, and technological environments.

This unit focuses on equipping students with the ability to find, evaluate, and use information effectively. Digital Skills involve more than just using a smartphone; they include online safety, identifying credible sources, and using digital tools for productivity. General Research Skills teach students how to approach a problem systematically—from asking the right questions to gathering data and drawing logical conclusions.

Unit 3:

This unit covers the psychological and social skills that help individuals deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. It moves beyond academic knowledge to focus on Self-Awareness, Interpersonal Communication, and Emotional Regulation. The goal is to build a well-rounded personality capable of making sound decisions under pressure.

Unit 4:

This unit explores the historical trajectory of human society—from primitive hunting-gathering groups to the complex digital societies of the 21st century. It doesn't just look at what happened in history, but why it happened by examining Philosophy. Philosophy provides the "logic" or "reasoning" behind social structures, laws, and ethical systems in both Eastern and Western traditions.

Unit 5:

This unit focuses on Human Geography. It examines the relationship between the physical features of the Earth (mountains, plains, rivers) and human activities (farming, building cities, culture). In the context of Nepal, it specifically looks at how our diverse topography—from the high Himalayas to the flat Terai—creates different lifestyles, economic opportunities, and social challenges.

Unit 6:

This unit provides a comprehensive overview of Nepal's journey from ancient civilizations to the present Federal Democratic Republic. It emphasizes the Unification process, the rise and fall of the Rana Regime, and the various Democratic Movements (1951, 1990, and 2006). The focus is on understanding how past events influence our current national identity and political structure.

This unit explores the various elements that make up an individual’s and a group’s identity. It focuses on the diversity of Nepal—linguistic, religious, ethnic, and regional—and how these differences can be a source of national strength. It teaches students to move beyond stereotypes and embrace Inclusion and Social Harmony.

Unit 8:

This unit focuses on the Constitution of Nepal (2015/2072 BS) as the supreme law of the land. It explains how the government is structured under a Federal System and details the distribution of power between the Federal, Provincial, and Local levels. Beyond laws, "Civic Awareness" emphasizes the moral and legal responsibilities of a citizen—such as voting, paying taxes, and protecting public property.

Unit 9:

This unit analyzes two major global trends: Urbanization (the process of making an area more urban) and Migration (the movement of people from one place to another). In the context of Nepal, it examines how villages are turning into cities, the rise of "Smart Cities," and the massive impact of both internal and international migration on the country’s economy and social structure.

Unit 10:

Economy (अर्थतन्त्र) and Development (विकास) are two sides of the same coin. While they are often used interchangeably, they represent different layers of a country's health and growth.

Unit 11:

Education (शिक्षा) and Social Development (सामाजिक विकास) is deeply intertwined. Education acts as the engine that drives social change, while social development provides the environment where education can flourish.
