Unit 2:Boolean Algebra and its Simplification

Basic Logic Gates: AND, OR and NOT, Universal Logic Gates: NAND and NOR, Extended/Derived Logic Gates: Ex-OR and Ex-NOR, Boolean Algebra, Postulates and Theorems, Canonical Forms (SOP, POS), Simplification of Boolean Functions using laws, Simplification of Logic Function using Karnaugh Map, Analysis of SOP and POS expressions, Simplification of up to 5 variable Boolean expression using Quine-McCluskey Minimization Technique (Tabular Method)

Unit 3:Combinational Logic Design

Implementation of Combinational Logic Function, Half Adder and Full Adder, Half Subtractor and Full Subtractor, Encoders and Decoders, Implementation of data processing circuits, Multiplexers and Demultiplexers, Parallel Binary adder, Magnitude comparator (2bit and 4 bit), Code Converters, Parity Generator and checker, Basic Concepts of Programmable Logic, ROM, PAL, PLA

Unit 4:Sequential Logic Design

Concept of State and State Diagram, State Reduction technique, Triggering and its types, Latches and Flip-Flops (RS, D, T, JK, Master-Slave)

Unit 5:Counters and Registers

Asynchronous and Synchronous Counter, Ripple counter, Ring counter, Modulus 10 Counter, Modulus counter (5,7,11), Synchronous Design of above counters, Registers, Serial in Parallel out register, Serial in Serial out register, Parallel in Parallel out register, Parallel in Serial out register, Bidirectional Shift Register
